The Public Works Department of the City Of Flin Flon has picked up a new piece of equipment for their snow removal arsenal.

Director of Public Works and Utilities Mike Funk explains how this new piece of equipment will make their job easier and more efficient.

“A nice addition to what we’ve got and is a replacement piece of equipment as well. So, this new loader that we’ve acquired, it has a lot of excellent new state of the art features. And this is going to help us throughout the winter time also come summer time with loading any aggregate. There’s a computer system in there that weighs the material. Once we have parameters set in, it’ll actually calculate how much material we’re loading in the trucks instead of us just estimating on how many buckets and guessing how many yards we’ve added. So, this is going to help us be a lot more accurate with our inventory with any aggregate leaving the yard.”  

The city has had this piece of equipment on their radar screen for awhile and is a nice addition to the equipment they already have. It is very high tech and they have their operators getting trained, and once that is complete, this new loader will help the City save more money and be more efficient.
