Mayor George Fontaine and members of Flin Flon City Council had a chance to meet with the Manitoba Minister of Immigration Malaya Marcelino last week,  and Mayor Fontaine says the purpose of the meeting was to identify how Flin Flon works with our Saskatchewan neighbors.

" What's happening is that we have programs from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan , and if you are in a immigration program for Manitoba you can't live in Saskatchewan or work there. There is no cross renferencing right now , and what we are asking both provinces to do is treat this area as a zone. Then we can have families come up and they can live in Creighton and work in Flin Flon or vice versa. The point is people live in the whole area and they don't have to be tied to one area, and some time there is a job but no where to live in that spot. We are trying to get them to understand what the facts are in our community."

Mayor Fontaine also mentioned that Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach continue to work together and have formed the FDC group where they meet at least once a month and continue to work on business opportunities and tourism.
