Gary Vidal who is the MP for the Desnethe- Missinippi- Churchill River was in Denare Beach at the Ridge on Amisk Resort to make a couple of special presentations this past Wednesday.
Gary was in town to present the Kings Coronation Medals that a lot of MP’S around the country have been presenting. These medals are presented to recognize people that make significant contributions to their communities over a course of a lifetime.
These medals were presented to Bruce Fiddler the Mayor of Creighton and Carl Lentowicz who is the Mayor of Denare Beach.
Vidal explains how the respective mayors were chosen.
“It’s a nomination process where we went around the ride in looking for people that have significantly contributed to their communities, have done outstanding contributions and I mean both these gentlemen have been serving as the leadership in our communities I think since 1994. So, it’s been a very long time of municipal service to their communities and obviously the Governor Generals Office in Ottawa determined after we nominated them that they were worthy recipients and agreed to come and present them with medals.”
In May of 2023 to mark the coronation of his Majesty King Charles the 3rd, The Prime Minister announced that the government would award 30,000 Coronation medals to people across Canada that make significant contributions to their country, province, territory, region or community.
