The Women’s Resource Centre in Flin Flon is holding more events in the community this week to help remember missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
Ally Klippel lets us know what they have planned for the rest of the week and the significance of the red dresses that are hanging on Main Street.
" So the red dresses that we have hung are to pay tribute and respect to the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. They are a sign to show that we still think about them , they still live with us, among us and not to forget the things that have happened. For the rest of the week on Thursday the 13th we will have a informational group that will be coping with the loss of loved ones. A group on grief and a support group from 2 to 3 pm at the Women's Resource Centre. On Friday from 2 to 4 we are going to be beading Red Awarenss Ribbons and starting at 4:30 we are going to be having a little event up here. There will be drumming from the Northwind Turtle Women's Singers, plus speaking and other events to take part in as well."
The Memorial March which was supposed to take place at Pioneer Square on Friday at 5:15 has been moved to the Women’s resource Centre due to the extreme cold. They also have a Women’s Healing Circle planned for today between 5 and 7pm.
You can find out more about all the events on the Flin Flon Women’s Resource Centre facebook page.
