The third annual Jimmy Custer Memorial Dog Races will take place this weekend in Denare Beach.

One of the organizers, Wally Olsen looks forward to seeing a lot of spectators coming out to cheer on the dog teams. " The teams will take off at 11am, but I encourage people to show up a little earlier,  maybe around 10:30 just to witness the excitement and adrenaline of the teams. It is really something to see as they prepare. It is looking like we have 10 to 12 teams confirmed but it could be more as I am still  getting messages on when registration is."

There will be three different categories including a 10 dog, 6 dog and a 4 dog. The races will take place at Shwaga Bay just past the water treatment plant or where the old Beaver Lake grounds used to be. All the races are free  to watch.  Cash prizes will be awarded for the top 9 teams in each category with some teams coming from as far as Alberta and Quebec.
