The City has agreed to lease a loader that they will be able to use all year long and can be used all over the community. The City will also purchase a new snow blower which will be able to pick up snow and then be loaded into City Trucks and Contract Vehicles.
A grant has allowed the City to purchase a new city bus that will be able to handle the terrain in our community and should be able to last a long time. The agreement is with Custom Coach Inc and it will be a 20 seat wheelchair accessible to the public. The grant was for $260,000.00 and 80 % was covered by the grant.
7 shelters will also be purchased and there will be new curbs and shelters.
Councillor Judy Eagle was able to attend a Eagle Feather ceremony at the Red Square which was a gathering and feast to celebrate the Indigenous culture. Margaret Head and other dignitaries were in attendance for the swearing of the oath on a sacred Eagle Feather.
Councillor Alison Dallas Funk will be meeting with Lisa Naylor who is the Provincial Transportation and Infrastructure Minister next week to discuss the Channing Road 291 and possible rerouting for trucks.
