Pas RCMP Respond To Shots Fired And Make Arrests

On January 14th  at approximately 11:40 pm, The Pas RCMP received several reports of a firearm being discharged in the area of Hone Street in The Pas.

Officers immediately attended to the area and were advised that two suspects, dressed in black clothing, had been seen running down the back lane of a nearby street.

A third call had then been received reporting a home invasion involving two similarly described suspects, one armed with a firearm. The home had been entered with the suspects then fleeing out the back. No injuries were reported. Additional reports continued to come in, one victim indicating his residence had been shot at and damaged.

With the assistance of RCMP Police Service Dog Phlex, officers were able to track one of the suspects to a nearby parked vehicle where he was attempting to hide underneath it. He was arrested without incident.

The search for the second suspect continued on with the use of Phlex who successfully tracked the suspect attempting to enter another residence a short distance away. He was arrested without incident.

Officers returned to the scene of the home invasion and a search of the property led to the recovery of a loaded sawed-off shotgun believed to have been used by the suspects.

The Pas RCMP have charged Shane McGillivary, 25, and Shawn McGillivary, 31, both of Opaskwayak Cree Nation, with Breaking and Entering, Discharge Firearm while Being Reckless, and numerous other firearms-related offences. They were both remanded into custody.

The Pas RCMP continue to investigate.
