The Bylaw To Establish New Water Rates Was Passed At City Hall Tuesday Night

The first increase will begin in January of 2025 and will go from 107 a month to 116 a month with the rate rider going up to 169. The rates then increase in each of the next four years working out to an increase of 55%.

The City wanted to thank the people that sent letters to the Public Utility Board as it did influence the board to compromise the rates hikes.

The City will be sending a letter of support on behalf of UCN who will be applying for a grant from the Provincial Government to build a 33 person residence for students totalling 1.9 million dollars. The City will also be donating $300.00 towards the Friendship Centre for their Christmas Gift Program.

Progress at the new Aqua Centre continues to go well as portions of the wall are starting to go up and it is being reported that they are ahead of schedule. The anticipated opening date is the summer of 2026.
