The Flin Flon Arts Council held their AGM last week and have a lot of exciting events planned for the rest of 2024-25.
The next event coming on the arts slate is next month, when the Ham Sandwich drama troupe shows their new production - a stage adaptation of the classic board game Clue. The show will run at the R.H. Channing Auditorium Nov. 15-17.
Soon after will be the final planned show of 2024, the Flin Flon Community Choir’s annual holiday concert, taking place Dec. 7. This year’s show will feature accompaniment from Winnipeg-based folk trio Red Moon Road.
The Arts Council also received some wonderful news that they had received a $250.000.00 grant from the Canada Council Of The Arts. The Arts Council’s Crystal Kolt tells us this is big news for the entire Northern Region.
" The Flin Flon Arts Council applied to the Canada Council Of The Arts and has been awarded another $250,000.00 for the Imagine North project which is in it's second year. We are extremely excited about this, because last year was the beginning when we got the initial project started with our champions and got additional funding from the province for the shop and box. We are really excited to see where this additional funding takes us."
Kolt went on to mention that with this grant money they will be able to work with other groups across the North including The Pas, Thompson, Churchill, OCN and Brochet. They want to keep building on making products and expanding resources right across the North.
