A number of management policies were presented at Tuesday

The meeting began with Mayor George Fontaine congratulating Thompson’s Deputy Mayor Kathy Valentino on becoming the interim President of the Association Of Manitoba Municipalities. Kathy was given this appointment after a resignation.

Kathy has been a big advocate for the entire Northern region and Flin Flon City Council wanted to offer their support and look forward to continuing to work on building relations in the North.

The city has adopted an Attendance Management Policy, vehicle Tracking Policy and Asset Management Policy for employee’s and management,  so everyone is familiar with the City’s policies when it pertains to employees, city vehicles as well as the different assets owned by the city.

These plans were put together and are up to date with other communities and municipalities across Manitoba. These plans will also help with future planning and budgets.

Mayor Fontaine and Councillor Slipp recently attended the Northern Caucus meeting in Thompson and were shown what Thompson was doing with Indigenous groups including the building of an urban reserve. They also got a chance to network with different municipalities and talked about infrastructure, crime, rec and revitalization.

The city has also announced that they have budgeted $650,000 for snow removal and will be giving a discount to the Flin Flon Community Choir for the use of the FFCH for Annie. The city has also agreed to give a donation of $750.00 to the Norman Wild U-15 AAA team.
