The Flin Flon Creighton and area SPCA held their AGM last week.
President Nicole Kendrick welcomed everyone and thanked her staff, the community, volunteers and animal lovers for another great year. Kendrick pointed out that even though they don’t have a lot of money they continue to function.
A huge priority continues to be the renovations , kennels and taking care of the staff.
Erica Husberg presented the Treasurer report and they finished off their year with a deficit of $8,700.00 with wages and veterinary their highest expenses.
They do not receive any government subsidy’s, so it is the board, staff and volunteers that keep the doors open year after year. Fundraising, adoptions and donations continue to be their sources of income. They work extremely hard in getting the animals ready for adoption which is a large part of their income.
Husberg also commented about the generosity of the people in the community that help keep the doors open.
Shelter Manager Brenna Benko Says they took in 58 animals last year, 9 surrenders, adopted 36 animals, 8 low income spay neurers and two animals were returned to their owners.
The SPCA also worked with Gayle Yungwirth to get 16 long term animals sent out.
Nicole Kendrick will stay on as President, Shelly Jones Vice President, Erica Husberg Treasurer and Shannon Thompson Secretary. Members at large are: Rhonda Werbicki, Tereasa Holloway Gudmondson, Lyla Yaremchuk, Marie Nixon, Tiffany Falk and Heidi Mote.
