The Flin Flon Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation is conducting an oral history project this fall with a grant from the New Horizons for Seniors Program. The Corporation’s Laurence Gillespie says the idea is to supplement the existing historical record of Flin Flon. He says it was apparent to him when he first moved here there are all kinds of neat stories about Flin Flon and a lot of fascinating historical information that doesn’t seem to be in any of the history books he’s seen. He adds the idea is to get a picture of the history of Flin Flon basically from its beginnings to the present day and hopefully give a sense of the colorful stuff that doesn’t always make the history books but is every bit as important to giving an idea of what the real history of Flin Flon was.
The Corporation has retained local historian Gerry Clark to act as chief interviewer for this project called Collecting Memories of Flin Flon. Anyone willing to be interviewed or with ideas on who should be interviewed can call 204-687-6972.
