Flin Flon City Council gathered at Council Chambers for their first meeting of October on Tuesday night.
Mayor Fontaine began the meeting with condolences to both the Dallas Funk and Eagle families on the loss of recent loved ones and welcomed new CEO Sandy Stokes from BC who has taken over for Lynn Brown.
This was Stokes first official meeting as she is getting familiar and comfortable on how the city does things.
There was an update on the RCMP situation in Northern Manitoba as Snow Lake will now operate with their own officers and Flin Flon and Cranberry will continue to be combined.
The City has also agreed to allow the current Flin Flon Station Museum current board members to stay intact for another year and will be meeting with City Council sometime in early 2025. The City did approve a grant application for Culture Days in the amount of $25.00.00 to go towards expenses, supplies and rentals for this years events.
A citizen also showed up and voiced concerns over the state of trees in Willopark , that a number are falling down and could be a potential hazard to people walking through the park. The city will send a representative in to address the situation and they will start to remove the dead trees.
