City Council Introduced A New Bylaw Tuesday Night

The City gave their final reading to regulate the storage and disposal of garbage to 4 bags per week per household. Mayor Fontaine commented that this was due to an over abundance and abuse of the system.

If you need to dispose of more garbage you can pick up additional tags at City Hall. The City did talk to other municipalities in the province to get feedback on what they do and this process will be very similar to what other communities have in place.

The City signed off on the agreement with Rural Transit Solutions on the two million dollar grant for bus transportation around the city. The grant will allow the City to purchase a new bus,new sidewalks and shelters around the community. Some construction will start now and will be completed sometime in 2025.

After an extensive search the City announced they have hired a new Chief Administrative Officer, Sandy Stokes who comes to Flin Flon from Pouce Coup BC. Sandy has all kinds of experience in all functions of municipal operations and will be replacing Lynn Brown who is retiring in September.

Brown has agreed to stay on to help the transition and will begin a new role with the organization which will be announced later.
