Major road construction has begun downtown Flin Flon  over by the old CO-OP,  so a detour has been set up and  there will be  single lane traffic for the next few weeks.

The interm Director Of Operations Mike Funk explains what the city will be doing. " What we are planning on doing over there is we have a large failure of our storm sewer infrastructure which has aged out. What we are doing is renewing one side at a time and we are going to install new man holes, new plastick storm pipe and get everything recovered over. We will go one side at a time to maintain single lane traffic with MIT, who will be involved and co-ordinate the single lane traffic. We will have some automated traffic lights set up on both sides of Main street."

If all go’s well the project should last about 5 weeks and once the work is completed over by the CO-OP, they will flip the detour over and have everybody routed over to the Credit Union and UP North Dental side , so they can continue their work and finish up over by Pharmasave.
