Wilson Fire Was A Big Part Of The Discussion At City Hall On Tuesday

Mayor George Fontaine was quick to point out that he was very impressed with the quick action from the fire crews that got on the Wilson Fire immediately , and says they are in constant communication with Council in Creighton.

 

Everybody is co-operating on both sides of the border and they are having daily meetings with fire and emergency crews from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The hope is to keep working together to tackle other issues like health care.

 

An update was given on the new Aqua Centre project as construction is right on schedule as a new water line has just been hooked up. Fundraising continues with a 50/50 draw for $15,000.00 with the draw coming up at Blueberry Jam. So far just over $400,000.00 has been raised.

 

A couple of major construction projects will start next week including the demolition of some buildings on Main Street including 118 to 120. They will also start on replacing the road between the old CO-OP and Post Office and that project will go right til the end of August. There will be a single lane on Main street.

 

The Public Utilities meeting for the increase in water rates which was postponed in May has now been re-scheduled to August.
