Mayor Fontaine and Councillors Slipp and Dallas Funk reported that the Northern AMM was very positive with pretty much all the communities up north participating including The Pas, Thompson, Lynn Lake, Cross Lake, Norway House, Cranberry, Snow Lake and Grand Rapids.
They had a chance to meet with the Minister Of Justice, and the Deputy Minister Of Northern Relations who sat down and listened to the concerns of these northern communities which were tabled and will be presented before the whole province in November.
Among the concerns are hiring and retaining RCMP, and looking for funding for CSO programs.
Construction is about to start on Flin Flon’s Main street which will include ripping out the pavement and replacing it between the old CO-OP and the Post Office. They will also be starting dust control in the next few weeks.
