City Council gathered at Council Chambers on Tuesday night as progress continues to be made on the new Aqua Centre.

 

Construction has started and it is going well as they have started to pour concrete. The basement has been poured and they are now working on the pool basin. The contractors have reported that they are on schedule.

 

Mayor Fontaine also reported that they continue to revise an evacuation emergency plan. They have been working with Creighton and Denare Beach and lots of different groups to make sure everybody is on the same page. After the forest fire situation back in May, the city wants to make sure they are more than prepared to handle any situation.

 

The City has amended a bylaw to an existing bill about graffiti. If any home owner or business has graffiti on their building it will receive three readings at Council meetings. After the third reading the business or home owner will receive a letter and will have 14 days to clean up the graffiti.If they don’t the city will do it and bill the home owner or business.

 

An update was given on the Flin Flon hotel location. There is still interest in the purchase of the building but the developers have changed. Asbestos people were sent in last week and the city is waiting to hear back on the report and will move ahead after they receive the information.
