National Indigenous Peoples Day will be celebrated right across the country this Friday including Flin Flon. The Flin Flon Friendship Centre will be hosting an afternoon of culture and fun and Program Coordinator Joe Anne Pelletier talks about the different events that will be taking place.
" So we are going to start off in the morning with Tipi Teachings and blessing of the ground. We have students coming from the schools and we have feather teachings for them, cultural games, spear throwing , nail drive and Fox tail games. There is going to be a free barbecue at 5:30, so get your tickets from the registration table and the Rez Boys will be our headliner performance. There will be lots of other musical acts including a drummer group from McIsaac and Ruth Betts."
Other highlights include an opening prayer with Margaret Head Steppan, speeches from dignitaries and Ron Burwash will be the opening musical act of the day. It all takes place at Rotary Park this Friday from 1 to 8pm.
