The Thompson Chamber of Commerce will host the first NORTHERN TRANSPORTATION SYMPOSIUM in Thompson, on September 5th and 6th. This will be one of the most important gatherings in Northern Manitoba held in decades to explore current transportation challenges and opportunities for economic development, sustainable growth, and improved health and social well-being.
This two-day symposium will bring together transportation providers and experts to explore opportunities for growth and innovation to better serve the North. The different modes and carriers would involve air, road, rail as well as new methods of travel and cargo hauling such as airships, drones, zero emission vehicles, and even a rail-bus.
Dr. Barry Prentice, Director of Manitoba’s Transport Institute will be one of our keynote speakers. Volker Beckmann, Thompson Chamber of Commerce Director and Event Manager, explains that attendees at the Symposium will hear from experts in their field and may participate in breakout sessions to identify challenges and promising ideas for improvement.
