Flin Flon Firefighters with assistance from The Pas, OCN, Thompson and Ontario continue to fight the very large wildfire around Flin Flon that continues to affect the areas around Cranberry, Wanless, Sourdough Bay and cottage subdivisions.
Emergency Coordinator Mike Funk came by the CFAR studio and was quick to point out even though communications are up and running again they don’t want people to get complacent. " We need to make everyone aware, we have communications up and running again but we can't become complacent. The radio has been a fantastick resource for us and we have communication back on line so we can get back on social media and continue to put information out. We want to make sure everyone understands the situation we are in that is still very serious and keep watching all our web pages, keep listening to the radio for updates and as soon as get more information we will release it as soon as possible."
Funk also went on to say that there is a lot of support being provided to fight the biggest fire in the province. " We have the largest fire in the province going right now so we have all the resources that the Province of Manitoba has up here. It is actually quite impressive to see the setup that we have with the command centre at the airport. They heve up to date information and not a lot has changed from yesterday. They are in a position right now making their game plan as the winds have changed and we are getting some precipitation which will hopefully help. It is a fluid situation for everything including the highways, winds, the fire conditions so stay up to date with everything and stay tuned."
