A bylaw was passed and changes proposed to another at the Flin Flon City Council meeting last night

Council passed on final reading the bylaw to impose a tax on accommodations of short duration such as hotel rooms in order to support community enhancement projects and destination marketing.  The bylaw had been sent to the province and they suggested some minor changes.

There are some changes proposed for the traffic bylaw.  The taxi stand on Main Street would be changed to a five minute parking only zone making it a drop off and pick up spot only.  It would expand the no stopping zone before and after the crosswalk on Main Street in front of the Royal Bank to be in line with provincial crosswalk standards.  It would also allow for a new crosswalk 12 meters south of Balsam Avenue near the animal park following concerns brought to their attention about traffic in that area.  The bylaw changes require two more readings by Council before passing.

Council also accepted the Fire Chiefs report for September indicating five calls during the month.
