Chamber Welcomes A New Member

The Chamber Of Commerce held their monthly meeting at City Council Chambers on Tuesday afternoon.


The Chamber has welcomed their newest member Boston Pizza who is interested in expanding into Flin Flon and are looking for someone to buy a franchise for the Flin Flon area. Dianne Russell, the Chamber President will share this information to other chamber groups in Manitoba and Saskatchewan to see if anyone is interested in this franchise opportunity.


Leslie Beck was on hand to represent the Trails Committee and reminded everyone they have a meeting planned for February the 13th, 7pm at City Hall. Beck mentioned if they end up forming an association they have 53 people confirmed to buy memberships.


Crystal Kolt was on hand for the Arts Council and commented on the Dinosaur Valley group who were in town to film a documentary on Flin Flon’s rich history. The group made their way to a Bomber game , visited Whitney House, CFAR and had a chance to meet lots of citizens and people involved in the mining sector. They are putting together a 15 minute promotional video that will be completed in a couple of months then shown on the City Of Flin Flon website.


Max Porterfield the CEO of Callinex Mining was the guest speaker and he updated everybody on the Pine Bay project located on the old Flin Flon highway by Sourdough Bay ,   where high grade discoveries of Gold, Copper,Silver and Zinc have been located.


Porterfield went on to say that they are looking for long time mining for long term job potential in this area. They have assembled a board of directors that have decades of mining experience including Peter Jones, JJ O’Donnell, James Pickell and Alan Voles.
