Creighton Teachers Are Walking The Picket Line

Creighton teachers are on the picket line today joining the rest of teachers across the province in the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation strike which will affect services for the entire day.

Kirsten Fritsch  who is the President for the local Creighton Teachers Association tells us why they are on the picket line today.

" We have been at the table with the government since May at the provincial level. We went with our proposals and we expect negotiations to be a little back and forth. Unfortunately the Saskatchewan Government hasn't moved from their original position and negotiations have stalled. We took a pretty strong sanctions vote back in October where 95 % of Saskatchewan teachers voted in favour of strike. We are looking to have class room size and class room complexity bargained in our provincial contract and that way the needs of Saskatchewan children can be met."

If you would like to show your support the Creighton Teachers are walking the picket line on Creighton Avenue between 10 and 2 today. You are welcome to walk with them or feel free to honk your horn when you drive by.
