Life saving help can be as near as your phone

The Red Cross has launched a first aid app to increase your skills and confidence to intervene in health emergencies.

Don Marentette with the Red Cross in Manitoba says the app will allow people to learn what to do in multiple medical emergencies from severe bleeding to broken bones to heart attacks.  He adds although full of useful information the new app is not a substitute for training.  He says the best way to be prepared for a medical emergency is still by taking a Red Cross first aid course supplemented by this easy app in your purse or pocket.

The free app is available for Android, iPhone and iPad and can be found in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for Android by searching Canadian Red Cross.  It is also available on the Red Cross website www.redcross.ca/app.
