The numbers continue to go up following a weekend fundraiser

The Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life was held over the weekend with people fundraising, collecting pledges and walking overnight Saturday at the Creighton Ball Diamond. Co-Chair Brenda Russell says it was amazing with 120 thousand dollars raised so far and 30 thousand in kind support from individuals and merchants.  She says the gathering of so many people from so many walks of life and just the togetherness is empowering, overwhelming and heartwarming and the whole community and outlying communities should be thanked for supporting it.  She adds it takes so much to put on an event like that but it makes it all worthwhile in the end when you see what a difference it makes and that feeling of people coming together brings about a feeling of hope for the future.

Russell says they had 6 to 7 hundred people out for the opening ceremonies with many staying to walk and volunteer. She says it will still be a while before the final total is available.
