A so called hotel tax moved another step forward

At their meeting this week Flin Flon City Council gave final reading to a bylaw to impose a tax on accommodation of short duration in order to support community enhancement projects and destination marketing.  It will not come into effect immediately as it still requires provincial approval.

Council also passed on final reading the bylaw to establish a grant and loan program to assist people using the city’s pump out service to encourage people to upgrade their system before the city puts limits on the number of pump outs they provide.  The grant is up to two thousand dollars with an optional loan of up to five thousand dollars.
