Flin Flon City Council held their regular meeting last night in Council Chambers.

 

Mayor George Fontaine started the meeting by letting everybody know that the Witness Blanket which has been on display since June the 22^nd , will only be at City Hall for a few more days. Closing Ceremonies are Saturday and Mayor Fontaine said it was an honor for the city to host this display.

 

There were a few resolutions that passed including a city by law to ensure the safety and health of all residents accessing rental housing in Flin Flon  to be known as the Rental Housing By Law which means all  rental properties must be up to code. The City has also reached an agreement with Inferno Shawarma for operation of the Whitney Forum Consession. This will be a two year contract.

 

The City also passed a resolution to tender for the reconstruction of sidewalks to Kozar Construction which will include sidewalks in various parts of the community.

 

The City will be going ahead with the construction of a new pool with most of the work beginning in the Spring of 2024. The City has received 6.7 million dollars from both the Provincial and Federal Government and will be applying for more grants and are planning more fundraisers.
