Thursday, July 20th is World Hepatitis Awareness day and the Play It Safer Network is hosting an outreach event at Pioneer Square from 1-3. Tieryn Steele lets us know about what they are looking to accomplish:
“What we are really trying to educate people on is hepatitis transmission and treatment. Recognising that essentially Hep c rates in Manitoba are essentially sky rocketing right know. We have the highest average of Hep C cases in the whole country. Manitoba and Saskatchewan both have the highest rates of transmission”
The event will have food, soft drinks and prizes, including a door prize for a camping package. Plus vaccinations for hepatitis and testing for other blood born infections.
