A Free Community Initiative is Underway for Everyone to use

The Flin Flon Community garden is in operation at Rotary Park.  It is an initiative to promote being in nature and building community connection. Garden representative PJ Tippet discusses how it all works.

"The community garden project was started by Crystal Kolt and lot of the arts council representatives 2 years ago.  It’s a little unique because its actually free to use. You don’t have to be employed here or buy a plot It’s total “free for all” You can come for an afternoon – pick some plants , do some weeding , and just spend so time out there. Staff will be here from 10-5...ish. so if you have any questions you can always drop by.”

All food not picked within a week of being ready goes to the food bank for distribution there. They will be hosting their first fundraiser of the year.  The Flin Flon Community Garden presents their inaugural garden party Sunday June 23 from 10am- 1pm. Drinks and snacks will be available and local will buskers perform. That will be followed by a free children’s performance from the Manitoba Underground Opera.
