National Fishing Week Starts This Saturday

National Fishing Week will start this Saturday July the 1st. The event has been taking place across Canada for the last 22 years usually in July.

The event is used to promote the great sport of fishing and get people off their phones and computer screens and get people out fishing on a regular basis.

Mike Melnyk explains how they can get people started if they are new to the sport. " We find a lot of people pick up a rod and reel for the first time during National Fishing Week,  and we can help them with a little booklet called Catch Fishing which explains the basics. Things like how to put a hook on a line, where to fish, you  don't need a boat you can fish from shore. This is lots of fun for people who are first timers and folks that haven't fished since they were kids.  We are encouraging people to get out during National Fishing week and all summer to get out in Canada's back yard and go fishing. We have a lot of rivers, lakes and streams in this country."

If you would like to receive your free booklet to help get you started you can go to the website catchfishing, com or send an e-mail  to  mike@catchfishing.com.
