June is Pride Month across Canada and the City Of Flin Flon has declared June the 5th to the 11th Pride Week in Flin Flon.
One of the members of the local Pride group here in Flin Flon, Kristen Fristch says they have a whole week of events planned. "We are really excited about hosting Pride this year as it is the first time we have hosted during Pride month. We will start with the flag raising today at City Hall at 5pm followed by the Trans March. This Thursday, the Orange Toad is hosting Chords and coffee for an acoustic evening starting at 7. This Friday we are really excited for our partnership with Aurora and Pine Bistro. We will be doing Pride Trivia from 9 to 11pm. On Saturday we will be doing Pride at Johny's with the Drag show starting at 8pm."
The week will conclude with the Pride Parade which will start uptown at 11 am and end at the Joe Brain Petting Zoo. There will be a barbecue to follow. The festivities begin at City Hall today at 5pm for the flag raising. Guest speakers include Mayor George Fontaine, Alain Lachapelle and Cali Gerbrandt .
