A Program to Assist School Division Staff Was Passed at The School Board Meeting.

Lots of great stuff is happening at the Division’s Schools as the Flin Flon School Division Trustees met earlier this week.  The Board agreed to pass a motion to purchase the Employees and Family Assistance Program which was presented this past December in a letter from the Manitoba School Boards Association.  This program does confidential counseling for the Division’s non-teaching staff that are on the seniority list or on contract with the Division. The Board did ask the MSBA for help in coming up with a more affordable option and are pleased to be able to afford to do this for their employees.  The teaching staff already has their own plan.

Board Chair Leslie Fernandes reported the Division recently received a generous cash donation from long time Flin Flon citizen Bill Friesen.  The money will be used toward scholarships for Hapnot students going into the fields of science and math, subjects Bill himself was fond of.  The Board appreciates the gift and thanks the estate of Mr. Friesen for giving back to his community and contributing to the betterment of local students.
