Water Rates and an Archive Board Went Through Their First Steps at the Flin Flon City Council Meeting Last Night.

Council passed on first reading a bylaw to establish monthly rates to be charged for water supplied and sewage service to all properties abutting or serviced by water and sewer in the City.  All unmetered services, metered services and water delivery will experience no increase in 2023.  The water bills will actually be going down by $5.06 due to the elimination of a deficit reduction rider for a previous utilities deficit that has been paid off. The bylaw requires two more readings before passing.

Council also passed on first reading a bylaw formalize the establishment of an eight member Archive Board to collect, store, present and share the rich history of Flin Flon for future generations. It will include Flin Flon City Council, a resident of Creighton and Denare Beach, representatives of Hudbay Minerals, the Library Board, Flin Flon School Division and two members at large appointed by Flin Flon City Council.

Council also agreed to support the landfill site investigation, remedial action plan and landfill master plan and the Flin Flon wastewater system assessment grant applications to the Building Sustainable Communities Program.  The assessments will show the city where they are and what they should be doing with these facilities.
