Our Member of Parliament is calling for action by the Federal Government

Churchill Member of Parliament Niki Ashton has called on the Federal Government to listen to First Nations and take action following reports of intentional malnourishment of First Nations children and subsequent testing by the Government of Canada.  Ashton says a number of First Nations were targeted including two in Northern Manitoba, Norway House and Opaskwayak Cree Nation and as the Member of Parliament for this area she is appalled and supports the calls of the affected First Nations for action.  She says the Federal Government must break with its paternalistic way of doing things and work with affected First Nations to act on these reports and respond to the inter-generational impacts of such actions. She adds the Federal Government must be a willing partner and work with First Nations towards justice and healing.
