The RCMP want you to use your off road vehicles safely

With summer in full swing people are taking to the outdoors with their off road vehicles.

The RCMP reminds you of the need to know the rules in the Off Road Vehicle Act.  That includes helmets are required by law for all recreational riders, off road vehicles are not intended to be operated on a roadway, the shoulder or across the median of a divided highway or on any sidewalks, a person crossing an intersection must have a valid drivers licence and cross at 90 degrees near the intersection and a young person under the age of 14 cannot operate an off road vehicle unless supervised and accompanied by and at all times within clear view of their parent or a person who is 18 and authorized by the parent.

Manitoba RCMP investigate on average five fatal off road vehicle collisions every year and in most cases the deceased was not wearing a helmet and speed and alcohol were also factors.
