Sewer backup problems were brought to Flin Flon City Council last night

Council heard concerns from residents of Parkway South and Aspen Grove where sewer backup problems started two years ago when an overflow pipe was removed.  The recent heavy rain again caused backups.  They want to know what and when something will be done. The residents said they called the city for help and when they finally got an answer help was slow in coming.

Councilor Bill Hanson said the city will try and find both short and long term solutions with engineers looking to see what changes have to be made to solve the problem.

Mayor George Fontaine added they are going to make sure someone answers the phone and acts quickly with pumps.  He added they will work at trying to find out what the problem is and find the right answer to it.

Similar concerns were raised by residents of South Hudson stating they believe there are some pipes broken in their area.  Mayor Fontaine said they will send people to find out what the problem is and how to solve it.  He says in both areas they will let the residents know what is happening.  Councilor Hanson will meet with the Engineer and Utility Department today to start the process.
