All men are invited to take part in a challenging walk

The Women’s Resource Center is holding an event called Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to support the Safe Haven.  Executive Director Colleen Arnold says the event raises awareness and money.  She explained first and foremost it’s a means to engage the public in an issue that affects everyone.  She says it’s an opportunity to shed some light and despite so many public awareness campaigns over the years the public still needs to be educated.  Besides the public awareness she says there’s also the fund raising part of the event as the Women’s Safe Haven is run totally by fund raising and they rely on donors and community support.

The walk will take place Friday at 4 o’clock starting at Pioneer Square.  Pledge forms are available at the Women’s Resource Center.  Arnold adds 22 men have signed up so far and they have men’s shoe sizes 9 to 14 in their red high heels for the men to walk in.
