Flin Flon Recreation Manager Andrew Smith officially opened a temporary Dog Park at the Joe Brain Petting Zoo Friday afternoon.  He says with potential construction and ground work being done at the community’s preferred Willowvale site for a new Aqua Centre the City feels this could create a hostile environment for Zoo animals as there is a likelihood of having to relocate them if any major work commenced.  He explained they were trying to figure out a way to use the space without putting a lot of money into it and one of their Councillors said why not use it as a temporary Dog Park this year and see how it goes and see how the community likes it and they’ll continue on next year to see if this is viable then they’ll look for a permanent location for something like this.

They ask the community to follow posted rules to ensure the park remains a friendly and inviting place for all. The park will be open from 7 am to 10 pm daily, park staff will maintain the grounds and they are planning to work with the SPCA on program ideas.
