The Legion needs your help to repair the Cenotaph

The President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 73 says the Legion has taken on the task of repairing the Cenotaph on Hill Street.  Bob Penner says they have to replace the fence and do some cement work explaining the cement around the monument itself is hollow and needs to be redone, all the foundation around the Cenotaph and yard is cracked and the corners are all blown apart from the weather.  He says basically what they have to do is redo the cement and replace the fence, the monument itself just needs to be power washed and cleaned.

Penner says the cost is expected to be around 52 thousand dollars.  He says they have applied for 35 thousand in grants, have permission to use 12 thousand from the poppy campaign and will try to raise money through donations with letters going out to businesses and organizations and they have made arrangements with the city so people can get a tax receipt for their donations.  You can contact the Legion for more information.
