Flin Flon City Council Applied for Flood Water Assistance and Set Rates at Their Meeting Last Night.

Council approved an application to the Provincial Disaster Financial Assistance Program as it has incurred expenses as a result of response and repair costs for 2022 spring flooding. That includes overtime for public works and water crews related to flooding and any other expenses not covered by insurance.  They also requested to participate in this program in the event residents incurred financial costs.

They approved the Community Hall Gym Fee Schedule setting rates at adults 400 dollars yearly, 150 quarterly and 60 dollars monthly and for seniors and youth 300 yearly, 112.50 quarterly and 45 monthly. This is the first year the City has operated the Gym.

They also passed on final reading the annual per parcel Special Services Levy for police and fire services, recreation support services and snow removal and dust control.  They total 894 dollars for all ratable properties and just over 395 dollars for the business tax roll in the community for this year going up one percent in each of 2023 and 2024.

Council approved the appointment of Janice Bee as Senior Election Official for the October Municipal Elections and they will hold a public meeting to discuss plans for the proposed new pool on Tuesday June 7th at 6 pm in City Council Chambers.
