Fishing Season Opens in Manitoba This Weekend.

Manitoba’s recreational angling season officially opens Saturday in the northwest and north central regions of the province.  They note due to late spring conditions some fish may still be spawning during the start of angling season.  Anglers are asked to protect fish stocks by releasing fish that are discharging eggs back into the water.  The late spring may also result in dangerous conditions including unstable ice, fast flowing currents and colder water temperatures.  Anglers are reminded to follow boating safety measures, wear life jackets, check ice conditions and use caution when angling.

Angling licenses are available online and can be immediately purchased and printed at home by visiting www.manitobaelicensing.ca. For information on provincial fishing regulations refer to the 2022 Manitoba Anglers Guide at www.manitobafisheries.com and the province will again be operating watercraft inspection stations to help watercraft users be compliant with aquatic invasive species requirements.
