New Case Numbers Continue to go Down in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Manitoba public health reported 902 new cases of COVID-19 for the week of May 1st to 7th down from 1042 the previous week.  The total reported case in Manitoba now stands at 142,875.  Of the new cases 455 were in Winnipeg with 88 in the Northern health region up from 83 the previous week.  Hospital admissions during the week were 183 down two from the previous week of which 131 were admissions to ICU. The volume of lab tests decreased to an average 832 people tested per day compared to 840 in the previous week and the test positivity rate was 17.6 percent a decrease from 20.7 percent the previous week.

 

              Saskatchewan health reports 710 new cases for the week of May 1st to 7th down from 765 the previous week. Far Northeast had the lowest number of new cases at seven up from five the previous week.  As of May 11th 321 people were in hospital down 69 from the previous week with 16 in intensive care down four.  The Omicron BA.2 sub variant accounted for 94.8 percent of variants of concern which is higher than 83.4 percent the previous week.
