At their meeting last week Flin Flon City Council received the Fire Chiefs report for March indicating five incidents. On March 8th they were called to alarms sounding in a building on Waldron Avenue. Crews searched and found no signs of smoke or flames and reset the alarm system. On the 10th a homeowner on Willow Crescent reported their chimney was on fire. Crews found a small amount of embers coming out of the chimney so the stove was cut off and the fire snuffed out. On the 19th a homeowner smelled smoke on Hillcrest where crews found an electrical fire in the bedroom which they quickly extinguished. On the 26th they were called to a structure fire on Bellevue Avenue. They found a fire in the basement which they quickly extinguished. And on the 31st they were called to a vehicle that had rolled into the ditch on highway ten. They rapidly evacuated the driver and assisted EMS. Total fire loss for the month of March is estimated at ten thousand dollars.
