Case Numbers Reported do not Give the Whole Picture.

Manitoba Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin reports COVID-19 case numbers appear to be going down but not all test results are being reported.  He explains many are undergoing Rapid Antigen testing, many are doing that at home then these positives are not reported to public health and thus are not taken into consideration in the daily case numbers.  He points out a proportion of those who are testing positive with Rapid Antigen are getting confirmatory PCR tests so some of those are reported but certainly not all of them noting medically supervised Rapid Antigen tests are being counted in their positive case numbers but those self administered are not.

Roussin adds we’re well into the midst of the Omicron wave and we are seeing significant transmission of this virus so we still have to be cautious with our contacts.
