At their meeting last night Flin Flon City Council passed a motion indicating they support the recruitment of a Regional Tourism Coordinator starting early this year for a budgeted amount not to exceed 80 thousand dollars with Flin Flon and Creighton providing 50 percent each.  They note the Tourism Coordinator would be employed by the Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach Regional Economic Development Commission and managed by the Regional Economic Development Manager.

Council approved the updated 2022 Flin Flon emergency plan that outlines a general plan to govern the provision of necessary services during a peacetime emergency or anticipated emergency and the procedures under and the manner in which the responses will be coordinated and to define the duties and responsibilities of certain departments and agencies ensuring the effects of an emergency or disaster on the city and its inhabitants are minimized, the protection and preservation of health, property and environment and the restoration of essential services. Events include a prolonged winter power outage, hazardous materials spill, industrial accident, forest fire, winter storm event, water plant failure and pandemic.
