Active Cases Top 40 Thousand in Manitoba While Saskatchewan Hospitalizations Continue to Climb.

Manitoba public health reported 847 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 34.2 percent.  Of the new cases 454 are in Winnipeg with lower numbers in other regions including 128 in Northern health where 2260 cases are active including 39 in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.  Of the total 111,432 confirmed cases in the province 40,805 are active, 69,161 people have recovered and 620 are in hospital with 48 in intensive care.

             

Saskatchewan health reported 1089 new cases bringing the seven day average of new cases to 1219.  Of the total 102,641 confirmed cases 11,781 are active, 89,899 people have recovered and 189 are in hospital.  Far Northeast Two reports three new cases with 22 reported to be active.  Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab says the public needs to prepare for a rise in hospitalizations when the Omicron wave peaks in two to four weeks.
