There was a Large Jump in New Cases in Winnipeg Over the Weekend While Saskatchewan Approached 200.

Manitoba public health reported 808 new cases of COVID -19 since Friday bringing the five day test positivity rate up to eight percent.  Of the new cases 513 were in Winnipeg region and 136 in Southern health with much lower numbers in other regions including 67 in Northern health.  Of the 71,590 confirmed cases 2183 are active, 68,041 people have recovered and 137 are in hospital with 27 in intensive care.  Nine new cases of Omicron have been identified for a total of 17.

             

Saskatchewan health reported 198 new cases since Friday bringing the seven day average of new cases to 59. Of the total 82,267 confirmed cases 565 are active, 80,760 people have recovered and 102 are in hospital.  Far Northeast Two continues to report no new cases with no cases active.  Ten cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the province.  Saskatchewan has reduced the wait time between second and third vaccine doses to three months from five.
