City Council Meeting

Flin Flon City Council held their regular meeting at Council Chambers this past Tuesday.

Alan McLauchlan and Mike Goodyear attended the meeting on behalf of Travel Manitoba and made a presentation on Snowmobile Tourism for economic growth for the North.

They encouraged the City Of Flin Flon to get certified as snowmobile friendly and talked about the economic advantages for Flin Flon and the entire North. Mayor Cal Huntley commented on how this could be a great opportunity to access the North and would look at some different ways to get some funding for equipment and to improve trails.

Councillor McKinnon attended a AMM conference and said the big topic of discussion was cost of policing and who will be responsible. She said it was very well attended  and was a great experience for networking. A spring convention is planned for Brandon.

The City Of Flin Flon also received a grant from Her Majesty The Queen In Right Of Canada for the funding for a friction tester at the Flin Flon Airport. This is over and above the funding they already received.

Councillor Pawlachuk mentioned the successful tree lighting at Pioneer Square and were honored to have Elder Margaret Head as their special guest.
