The First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba is Conducting a Research Program in the North to Explore Gaps and Access to Services for First Nations that Live with a Disability.

Research Coordinator, Marsha Simmons, tells us what they hope to accomplish.

"This research study will hear perspective from individuals that are living with a disability. It'll inform gaps and services and advocacy and required services for individuals to live a holisitc life. We are seeking to hear fromm all adults that are living with a disability that are from a first nation originally, whether they currently reside there or are no longer living in their home community..."

The information gathered will be used toward a human rights tribunal case to further the needs of First Nation adults who live in the North with a disability.
